Toon Tuesday – Proverbs 17:1 – Crouton of Quiet

Proverbs 17:1 Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house …

New International Version Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife. New Living Translation Better a dry crust eaten in …

Today’s sketch was inspired by my morning Bible study. “Better a dry crust eaten in peace than a house filled with feasting–and conflict.”

crouton of quiet

How fun. Wouldn’t you rather have peace? Wouldn’t you rather have joy? If you give me a picnic and a bologna sandwich and a bottle of water, with family and I’m a happy man. If you want to hook me up with a garlic butter slathered steak and sweet potato fries, you better not be grumpy around me.

I guess that’s why I’m not a huge fan of banquets and weddings. Many people act like they are enjoying themselves, but they are too stressed to enjoy one bite of that spread. It’s all about getting real. Why fuss? Let’s just crack open a box of Keebler graham crackers and sit around and laugh. I’ll remember that more than the something cordon bluey.

What a comfort would Proverbs 17:1 be if every mom and daughter wedding planning session started with praying that promise.

Here’s the great News. Our Father in heaven has a dinner planned for us to celebrate the return of His Son to rule the world. It will have the best of both worlds (heaven and earth) – feasting… AND shalom. Amen?

Will you be there?

I hope you enjoy Toon Tuesday. This series could go on for a while. I just found a load of old sketches that I will share in the future.
